Apple iPod Touch - 16GB Review

Apple iPod Touch 16GB sports a very sleek look. Although the design is similar to that of Apple iPhone, it is still thinner. This iPod is perfectly compatible and accessible through Safari or web browser, YouTube, and iTunes Music Store. It offers Windows Vista or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later. Apple iPod touch 16GB has 16GB storage space. It comes with a twelve-month warranty from the manufacturer.

Apple has been able to transform computer functions to touch functions. You can carry out most of the computer functions by the touch of your finger. It offers the best touch sensitive interface complacent with the finest available software and suitable devices. All menus like scrolling across music albums, browsing photographs or videos, or creating play lists work though the simple mechanism of a touch.

There are no specific hardware switches except for a single button on the side of the screen. This is the exit button. Videos are bright, colorful, crisp, and vibrant.

Apple iPod touch 16GB has an impressive visual interface and is perfectly compatible with Windows and Mac. It has built-in WiFi. The new design is the most attractive and eye-catching feature of this Apple iPod touch 16GB. The body measures just 8mm in thickness. The overall dimensions are 110mm x 61.8mm x 8mm and it weighs only 4.2 ounces.

Apple iPod touch 16GB has an internal accelerometer. This device senses if the iPod is in a horizontal or vertical position. Automatically it displays all contents in the proper format. You can adjust your position accordingly to suit your requirements. It makes it more enjoyable to view landscape photographs or watch movies.
 
There are only two buttons on the Touch. One of the buttons starts the main menu while the other button is the screen deactivation button. Apple iPod touch 16GB offers a superb interface with excellent audio and video quality.

The Looks on the Exterior

Apple iPod touch 16GB shows an obvious shift from the white plastic color of the product. It is now a stylish glass and metal configuration in black and silver color. It looks very elegant and exclusive. This new design looks like a crossbreed of the iPhone and the third generation iPod nano. The overall design looks gorgeous and very trendy. This is a complete configuration of glass and black metal. 

The iPod touch has the same scratch-resistant glass as on the iPhone. The iPod has a glossy chrome exterior. There is a USB 2.0 Port with USB data or charging cable and a docking adapter. Apple offers innovative products, all of which are an improvement over the predecessors. Apple iPod Touch 16GB also follows the same pattern. The iPod Touch is just like the iPhone without the cell phone functions.

Screen

Apple iPod touch 16GB offers a 3.5" color LCD widescreen diagonal display size with built-in multi-touch technology. This technology makes use of a mesh built of very thin membranes under the glass iPod screen. This network encompasses every square millimeter of the LCD screen.

These membranes are supersensitive to human touch. You can touch any part of the screen of Apple iPod touch 16GB and iPod touch interface software responds by zooming in on images, opening relevant menus, and many others. This highly sensitive network delivers prompt reactions to human touch. It specifically requires skin contact.

The multi-touch system of Apple iPod touch 16GB cannot function without human skin touch. You cannot activate this system by pressing with pen, fingernails, or teeth.

Apple iPod Touch 16GB has a multi-touch interface. This is an onscreen keyboard. You can use it for typing website addresses, entering, updating contacts and calendar events, Google searches, wireless network passwords, mobile blog posts, online forms, and just about everything else.

Battery Life

Apple iPod touch 16GB comes with a built-in rechargeable battery. It takes around one and half hours to charge this battery to 80% of its capacity. It requires more than three hours for a full charge starting from nil charge.  

Video playbacks through battery are available for five hours while audio playback is available for around twenty hours. However, you should use Apple headphones for best results of battery life. Non-Apple headphones may not deliver the same amount of battery life. They would rather exhaust battery life fast.

You can increase battery life through simple techniques. Turn off the screen while listening to music. While traveling turn your iPod touch off by pressing and holding the black button for about five seconds. A red button-indicating slide to power off will appear on your screen. Sliding this button to the right will turn off your iPod cent percent and save on essential battery life.

Wireless

Apple iPod Touch 16GB comes with built-in 802.11b/g wireless. You can thereby connect to any secure or insecure wireless network and access necessary web sites, iTunes store, and YouTube. Your iPod software converts full-sized web sites to fit into your 3.5" LCD screen. Through any Wi-Fi network, you can preview songs and make direct purchases. These purchased songs download directly onto your iPod.

Sound and Video

Audio quality of Apple iPod Touch 16GB is excellent. Frequency responses range from 20Hz to 20 kHz. This covers the entire range of human hearing. Apple headphones also offer superb quality of sound. Apple iPod Touch 16GB comes with touch-sized dock adapter for iPod speaker systems, ear bud headphones, simplified user manual, slimmer syncing or charging cable, and a stand.

Apple iPod Touch 16GB plays all types of video like video pod casts, music videos, TV shows, and movies. Video content can be in any size like widescreen (16:9) or standard (4:3). You can formulate iPod touch to play video full screen. This will zoom out little to play a true letterbox or widescreen version of the video without any cropped edges or utilize every pixel of the LCD.

You can download video content from any source albeit in compatible format. However, if the video is not in the required format, you can choose from the numerous video conversion applications available. Some of these are free while some are available for a small fee. These conversion applications will change the video format into iPod touch compatible size and format.

Safari Web Browser

Safari Web browser allows you to integrate touch-screen keyboard and multiple browser window features of Web-based e-mail like Yahoo mail or Gmail work in Safari. However, flash-based Web objects are disabled.

Overall Conclusions

Overall, Apple iPod Touch 16GB is a fantastic product. All features are superb and offer easy operation. Sound quality is appreciable. LCD screen of Apple iPod Touch 16 GB offers accurate images with perfect clarity. Colors are excellent and all images are of superb quality. 

Accelerometer and multi-touch screen together allow you to rotate images from portrait to landscape mode or zoom photos using your fingers. Apple claims that 20,000 photos can be stored on the 16GB flash drive.

However, there are few shortcomings in Apple iPod Touch 16GB. It does not offer any memory card slot for storing extra gigs. The iPod touch cannot wirelessly connect with iTunes. Further, placement of audio jack on the bottom of the iPod touch is little inconvenient.

Apple iPod Touch 16GB is a good buy only if you have easy access to Wi-Fi network. This allows you to use most of its features. Overall, this is a sleek and innovative product from Apple.
